Catch-up Post

Holy Guacomole! It's been a while since I posted. Perhaps I'd better get my blog up to speed. Oh, where to start, where to start...

Well, M is now 2 yrs and almost 3 months old, and the terrible twos are nowhere in sight. She is so much fun! And quite the talker. I don't know where she gets it from *wink*. It's so cool hearing full sentences come out of that little mouth. If I'm tired and rub my eyes she reassuringly says, "You be awright, Mommy." And somewhere she picked up, "Be quiet! You making my crazy!". Yikes. She's working on her teens for counting and says 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20. And she counts objects pretty well, too. She's only leaving out m and n when she sings the alphabet, and has many other cute songs in her repertoire. The Itsy Bitsy Spider is endless because instead of finishing with "...so the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again", she sings "...so the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout", which leads her right back through the song again. She does the same with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

The Fall Semester has started up where M goes to "school". I had signed her up for 2 full days of the Mommy's Day Out program, but unfortunately they overfilled one of the days, and I was last to sign up, so we had to settle for the full day Tuesday and the Friday 1/2 day. I really miss that second full day! They are hoping to open another 2 year old class if they can find a suitable teacher. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I really love their program, and only briefly considered moving M somewhere else to get the 2 full days.

Let's see. What else.

We took a road trip to Houston over the Labor Day weekend. The Husband had to be there for meetings Thur and Fri, and it seemed like a good chance to take the family. He has taken a new position at work and now travels almost never, by the way. Anyway, it turned out to be a pretty fun time. M traveled very well, as usual, and enjoyed stopping at many new and interesting playgrounds along the way. She also very much enjoyed playing with Little A, a 3 yr old boy of some friends of ours. She was so impressed with him that for several days she was saying, "I'm a boy!". She's now back to informing everyone that she's a girl.

Oh, some big news for me. I will be doing some part-time contract design work for a few months for the Dallas company I used to work for. I'm really looking forward to it. I was starting to scout around for some part-time work here and had even interviewed for a job that turned out to be way too full-time, and not enough money to make it worth it, so the timing on this opportunity couldn't have been better. And I'll be working from home, so it's the best of both worlds, in that I'll be doing something non-mommyish, but will still be around for M. I think it'll work out pretty well. And if it doesn't, it's only a few months.

The weather has finally cooled down here. Now that it's September, it finally feels like we're in summer, instead of like we're burning for all of eternity in the fiery depths of hell. A nice change. I actually had the AC off and the windows open for part of yesterday. Can I get a Hallelujah?

Well, that probably catches us up. I'll try to post again sooner than 4 months from now.
